Question for the Bow Veterans and Gurus

I just received an e-mail from Sandy at Horne's Archery. She had just finised packageing my New Mountain Bow and it will be shipped today. I will post pictures when it arrives. Now all I have to do is learn how to shoot it. I have a question for some of you veterans out there. This will be my first Rcurve and I have not even shot it yet,but I have already fell in love with the Horne's Brush bow. Is a longbow harder to shoot than a recurve? Could I switch back and forth or should I learn to shoot the recurve before going any further. Man this stuff is addictive and I cannot wait for the adventure to begin

If this is your first traditional bow, you might want to stick with it for a while before shooting a longbow, but in general, I don't find it much of a problem changing back and forth from one to the other. Been doing it for more than 40 years, though I shoot longbows almost exclusively now.

I had no problem switching from recurve to longbow but now I don't think I shoot a recurve as well. Just my experience.

Kenneth I started on recurves long time ago. Now I shoot a longbow almost exclusivly. When I switch back to a recurve I don't have any trouble. Just takes a few shots to oreient myself to the different bow. I think once you can shoot either bow fairly well you can switch & won't mess yourself up. I would stay with one or the other till you shoot it pretty well first though. Just shoot the one you have now for awhile & enjoy. Welcome to the club watch you don't get addicted. Frank

Cooter, some say along bow is more forgiving, but whatever you choose make sure your efficiant with the weapon of choice, and stay with it until you get some deer under your belt with trad. equiptment.
