A boonie (wool or cotton), like longstick recommended, does work well. I really like to wear a baseball style hat, but am very happy hunting with a boonie. Gives you a short bill (but a bill nonetheless), is collapsable, and will NOT hit your string when you draw. Might be worth a shot. Good luck.

Rhe "radar" style caps are awesome for cold weather. I am going to look for a boonie hat in ASAT. If not, one of those Tilley hats look good too.

go to Cabela's and look up 'boonie'. They have one with a built in facemask. It's what I hunt with in the early NC season.

I like my boonies as well, been wear'n them since the 70's. New military boonies sell for around 12.00 and you can get them in an array of como and solid colors. There light and they wear long. I just don't think you can beat'em.

I wear a greek fishing cap made of wool while hunting in the rain. keeps your noggin warm, short bill, and it stays put in the wind....kind of a nautical look to it too. goes great with a beard.....i've worn those hats for work and hunting for years before the wear out...
no wonder the boys call me "Captain Kirk"
