VPA Terminators
« on: January 14, 2011, 05:23:00 PM »
I had been talkin with Jeff at VPA for about a month or so now and finally got to meet him (great guy) at the ATA show last weekend.  These are some nice heads and I'm sure there gonna be on the business end of the pig sticker next month!! I'm currently trying out the 150gr and the 175gr screw on and there are flying like lazers. I was very impressed how easy they sharpen. With just a few strokes on the file and leather stropped, I had them SCARY in no time!
How many of you guys use these heads?  I think there gonna do very well for me.

I've been noting but pleased and impressed so far.  I was surprised how easy the edge comes up and stays sharp even after doing its job.

I am a Zwicky Delta 4 blade man at heart, but these head have sure been making me look and stare a bit.  I may have to get a pack and scratch an itch in the back of my mind.

They come with a nice edge.  I'm by no means a sharpening guru, but jeff showed me how to sharpen these heads at the show.  All is needed is a 14in smooth mill file and a leather strop.  I have the tru-angle leather made for 3 blade heads and it works great for me. just lay the file flat and stroke the heads forward with light pressure and then strop back on leather and they get SHARP quick!!  Hair just jumps off...my arm is bald from testing!lol
Yes they do come in glue on and all different weights.  The 160gr and up are longer and I really like the pyrimid tip on them,  should be a bone buster for sure.

I killed an elk with the Woodsman Elite which as best I can tell are the same head. Please correct me if I am wrong...can you guys get them really sharp? I can get them sharp, but REALLY hair poppin' sharp? I loved the hole the 250 grain head provided and the dead elk within 30 yards, but I never got the head as sharp as my 2 blade heads. Any tips?

Great pics guys!  Can't wait to run one thru a pig. Urban archery season stays in till March here, I may go ahead and give them a try ASAP!
Wapati792, yes both heads are made by VPA.  Vents are really the only difference, but so far sharpening has been easy and shaving hair is no problem with little effort.

Are these similar to the old 300 Extremes?
