Anybody close by?
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:43:00 PM »
I'm in southeast MN, near Wabasha.  I was just wondering if there are any members close by in either SE MN or western WI.  If there is someone within a decent drive that makes bows and wouldn't mind showing off a little I'd love to see someone in action in person.  Otherwise just meeting like minded people is interesting too!

I'm not very good at paying close attention to all the posts I read as to who is from where although I am trying to get better so I thought I'd take a shot at it this way.

Thanks,
Scott

They don't make bows, but a great shop called The Footed Shaft in Rochester is well worth a visit and right in your back yard.  Dwyer Longbows is just a short swim across the river  and little hike down the road just north of Holmen, WI.

Surely you've been to the PY Museum in Chatfield? Lots of great history and hundreds of bows there!  A bunch of us will be in your neck of the woods this coming April 6-9th at the 50th Anniversary Convention of PY in Rochester.

Just got the trad bug recently.  I met Lamont the first time many years ago when the other archery shop was next door to his.  I was saddened to hear about his troubles and that he sold the shop.

I wasn't looking for a shop just someone close by with similar interests.  All my buddies are wheel bow shooters.  Maybe I can get some of them interested.  Thanks guys.

I live between Rochester and Stewartville. Chad's bows are top notch and worth the drive! Otherwise Nick Torterelli makes bows in Rochester. His shop is called Torterelli Traditions, google it and I think you can find his site! The Rochester Archery club puts on a trad only 3d shoot every spring(usually in April) and it is a great shoot! Chad was there last year along with a few other guys. Terry the new owner of the footed shaft is a great guy and a long time friend of Lamonts.
The man who thinks he can and the man who thinks he can't are both right!!!
