Wild Boar for G. St Charles
« on: January 17, 2011, 07:15:00 AM »
I always had a great admiration for Glenn St Charles for what he has done for the Sport and for how this humble giant acted all his life long.He is always been a down to the earth person when he could have been in the cover pages of all hunting magazines, but this is what a true outdoorman is all about, with deep traditional moral values.
So at the 2009 P&Y banquet in Denver I had a chance to take my Bear TD Green Stripe handle there to be signed by him.
When I asked him if he could sign it he kidded me:give me a 20,and as stupid as I am I agred.
His son Jay told me,he was just jocking and he signed the riser.
Last September I went hunting for elk in Colorado with the will to christen that bow,but I had my worst elk season ever. When I left the woods I had the sad new of his passing,so I was much more determinated to take a game with Glenn.

I had not many chances to hunt later after then,my own loved Dad passed away when I was going to leave for WV for some Whitetail deer hunting. So I was able to pick up my bow again scouting and hunting wild boar here in Italy.

Ben,this country isn't as big or as wild as yours but sometime we are blessed with something.

I have spent many days scouting the area and all I have seen were lot of night tracks and a bunch of 11 piglets, going by themselves of 2 different sizes. The bigger were in the 80# range and the smaller maybe 50#.But I knew some bigger were around.Coming back to the Jeep I saw 4 really big ones one night.
I was able to pattern the small ones as they left the wood lots for feed in some old rise field.I had them one evening at 20 feet one night but they were facing me and the smaller were the first on the line so I didn't shoot.
Then I had my chance as they were entering the rise field at 20 but once again the smaller ones were the closest.I drew and released just when it started running toward the othersand missed it.So I decided to move on for something better.

My Buddys on a roll !Have at er!I had some insight on this story and was really looking forward to it.Good things that happen to Felix are so deserving, even though were thousands of miles apart he is a true friend in so many ways.
People grab some Popcorn and get commfy as this is going to be good !
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

I moved in a place where a friend of mine owns a property and not many peolpe hunt there. He can check if the boars are feeding on his pasture and then he let me know how it is going on.Good friends are the salt of life!
So he told me the boar were there again after few weeks of nothing.
I went there for many days never being able to find them since they were arriving really late at night.Plus the weather was become really foggy in the afternoon. But finally on Saturday night..
