Did I do O.K.?
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:17:00 PM »
At work we have on site customer reps. I get along pretty well with one of them. He shoots trad and is into blackpowder. Though we have never got together and shoot ( I guess that is the politically correct thing to do!), we talk about it alot at our morning meetings. Lately all he talks about is his blackpowder guns. Isn't shooting his bows at all.

On Monday he asked me would I be interested in buying one of his old bows. We are both lefties, so I said sure, let's see what you have. Well he showed up today with an old beat up Jefferies 3 pc. TD, a Black Swan one piece LB, and this Hummingbird Kingfisher!!!!
I told him I kinda liked the Black Swan, but I really liked the Hummingbird! He says, "Well I guess I'd take $400.00 for it." I made world record time writing the check without any thought of what the "BOSS" would say!!

So here it is. All bocote. Not sure what the accent stripes are. Pretty dang good shape. A couple of small knicks. I'm not to crazy about the shiny finish. That's O.K. I think I will get the riser checkered and the bow refinished in satin. The string is not that spiffy so I called Hummingbird and they are going to make me a couple strings for it. 62". 57@28.

So what do you think?

Thanks guys!! I'm pretty pleased. Should be getting the strings in a couple days, then I will get to shoot her!! Anyone have suggestions on who to contact to get her refinished and the grip checkered? Was thinking of Dave Windauer for the checkering. I would try Dale Dye, but I need him focused right now if ya know what I mean!! LOL!!! Any other suggestions would be great!!!!

Thanks! Rusty
