Anyone in the Staten Island/NYC area.
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:42:00 PM »
Most of the men in my family hunts but I am the only bow hunter in my family so I basically had to self teach myself everything since I was a little kid.  I am now in college and I love the sport and bow hunting in general. I am a pretty good shot but really wish I could meet/shoot with another experienced traditionalist to help me learn more about this wonderful sport.

I live in the Staten Island/NYC area, I have never even met another person who shoots traditional bows, I feel so alone and different I just wanna know if there is anyone in the area that would like to chat/shoot/maybe sometime hunt together.

Best regards,
Benny

I'm in westchester county, a 40 minute train ride from grand central. I'm always up for getting together with fellow Tradgangers

Hi Benny,

You are not alone.
I live in Manhattan, and shoot weekends at Suffolk Archers in Huntington. Lots of trad shooters. We have members in all the boroughs. Both hunters, and target/3D shooters.
Anything I can do to help ... don't hesitate to contact me.
Also,
there is a range, outdoor, at Floyd Bennett field.

Hello Benny,
I'm right on the other side of the Outerbridge. It would be nice do some shooting with someone. I've also been a loner. My biggest problem is my days off are Tues-Wed. There's a range not far from me, and I'm planning on joining a club this year. The only Trad people I've ever shot with were one day at the Whittingham last year. The Whittingham is a fun shoot at the end of April. I plan to camp it for the 3 days this year. It's at the end of April. You should try it. Keep an eye on the Trad Events forum for shoots in this area. I ride a bike all year so I'm shut-down till the weather breaks, but Spring is right around the corner, I hope!
Welcome to the 'Gang by the way!

@ Steve D I usually shoot in my backyard and upstate sometimes but I would love to get together and shoot at willowbrook with you.

@DannyBows we should set something up, your real close as well.

Problem is I don't always have a car available so getting to further places like LI and stuff could be difficult.
