Pink Feathers
« on: January 23, 2011, 08:49:00 PM »
I think I've decided to join "team pink".  I'm looking for 4" shield cut pink and pink barred feathers.  3 rivers doesn't carry 4" in pink barred and Joe Skipp (who others recommended) has sold his set up.  Anyone have suggestions?

Throw this up in the arrow classifieds and you may get some.

I have been marking bars on my pink feathers for quite some time with a black sharpie. The black marking fades over time, so I just remark them.

May not be too appealing for many, however I don't mind it.

Hey Friend,

I've been looking primarily for the barred feathers because I'm assuming they are harder to find, but where are you getting your solids?  Who have you found to have the most flourescent pink?  I might be willing to find some way to mark myself if I can't find them in barred.

Texasrecurve81- I purchased 100 solid pinks 4" shield cut several months ago from 3 Rivers.

Actually, if a can find a more dureable marker then I would be less likely to pursue barr marked feathers in the future.

I'm seeing the 4" shield by true flight but they don't have pink barred listed.  I'll call tomorrow and see if they have some that aren't listed online.  I'm also calling the nocking point tomorrow because they don't have colors listed online that I could see, LCH, do you know if they have pink barred in 4"?

Get chopper and cut your own, buy full length and go for it!

Good luck, and don't let them tease you about the color!

My father makes fun of all the colors I seem to choose for arrows.

Tex, I have TrueFlight LW Parabolic 4" pink solid and barred.

Feathers are a HUGE investment for a business.  Different lengths, shapes and MANY colors to stock and they aren't cheap.  Yes, the pinks are made in all sizes and shapes, but the demand has been very low so many retailers don't carry them.  Some of the bigger suppliers like Lancaster should have them.  As a last resort, you can buy them directly from TF, but they will be the most expensive feathers you will ever buy.

Another option would be to chop or burn.  Pinks are readily available in full length.

I've been working on KK to carry more pink.  If enuf of us will keep bugging KK and 3R for pink, they will get the hint and start carrying them.
Good judgement comes from experience.  Experience comes from bad judgement.

A chopper is easy, once you get the hang of it. You can sometimes get 2 4" chops out of one full length feather.

I can't resist  :D  These are my DAUGHTER'S arrows I did for her.

I have thought about that also, i am back into G.Fred Asbell's Book and he says be able to watch your arrow so the brain remembers where you shoot and nothing shows up like Pink, i will check our wholesalers today and see what i can get, the owners son fletched his fathers arrows in pink for a joke but everyone like them because they could see them to the target, just getting back into traditional shooting after a 4 year switch from a injury and started out with the books again i have always shot three fingers under and gun barreled now i am reteaching myself to shoot true instinctive and need to watch my arrows, is this the best color to watch?
