Centaur longbows
« on: January 26, 2011, 12:16:00 PM »
I have owned two dozen or so different longbows and I must say that the 2010 Centaur that I received in the mail from Pastor Steve Hill fellow Trad Gang member, is possibly the best shooting(for me) bow that I have shot to date. I wasn't sure how the chunky handle would work for me as I have never shot any riser/grip style than a traditional style gripped longbow. I shot it for 2 hours last night and again for 2 hours this morning and I am stunned at how fast this bow shoots. It is only a 47# bow at my draw length but unbelievably fast. It has a skinny string and shoots hard, no hand shock and the groups that I am shooting are the very tightest that I have ever shot. I hear all the time about bows that "hit where you are looking" this bow does exactly that. Love the finger grooves that dictate consistent hand placement on every shot. Hats off to the bowyer Jim Neaves I believe his name is. I am a believer and may sell the 50# @29" for a 50# @ 28" in the Chimera model. My bow is a straight glass bow and unbelievably fast/smooth. My compliments Jim and thank you Pastor Steve for a great deal!!!

April will be a good month for me as my Centaur will finish  :p  Though it will most likely be 40#, it still gonna be sweet!

I have a Chimera (47@27", 62") and a Carbon Elite(54@28, 58"). They are good shooters.
The only longbow I like better are my Morrison Shawnee's.

Im soooo envious of you guys.  i think ill settle for a mohawk, as i want one of those and the price puts it first on my list.  But i went to the webpage and seen Centaurs...i knew i had to have one.  The music on their webpage might have helped just a little. haha

I just recently got a Chimera and  I thought it was the best bow I have ever shot.  It is 66@26 56" long and it smokes and arrow.  I liked it so much that I bought a carbon elite from the same seller.  It is 58" 60@26.  I didn't think it could get any better but it did.  I don't know if it is the length or the lower poundage but I can feel the difference.  I liked the Centaurs so much I sold everything else I had (all my widows).  I could never justify grabbing another bow when I shot these so well.

Never shot one but I would love to get my hands on a Centaur Carbon Elite at around 52#@27" someday.

I've only heard good about these bows. And they are beautiful, which doesn't hurt nothin' either!

That SBD string makes that bow even better, planned on sending that one back to Jim to have the grip stippeled before Steve talked me into selling it back to him. It's a pretty one for sure. Another one bitten by the Centaur bug

Hey Mike does the SBD string make that much different over the string Jim provides?
