Outfitter vs. High Plains camo
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:14:00 PM »
Some time back we were discussing the differences between Cabela's Outfitter camo and High Plains Outfitter camo. I had bought the Wooltimate jacket in high plains because it was brown and the catalog picture looked dark. When I received it it had mostly light patches on it and ended up being too light for my liking. I now have one in regular Outfitter camo and though still a bit light is comparable to NatGear with green shading that I like. Ultimately I would rather have been able to shop the rack for just the one I liked but last time I was at the Cabela's in Fort Worth they didn't have any Wooltimate on the racks.

Anyway here are side by side comparisons for your information.

A number of years ago a buddy and I were drivers on a drive.  One of the standers had dark camo.  He was on the edge of some woods we were walking to drive about 500 yards away.  I was look at this dark thing at that distance and my buddy says, "what's that dark piece of crap over there?"  He stuck out like a sore thumb.  Since then I've liked the lighter stuff.  Actually didn't buy  the brown because it look too dark.  To each his own.

This makes me mad, because I had decided that with it being dark and windstopper, I wouldn't like the color and it would be too noisy.  Somewhat decided to spend more money with Gray Wolf.

I wear it more for duck hunting than anything else. Standing against the trees in flooded timber the Outfitter blends very well.

I'd use either without batting an eye.

I used to say the same, too light.
I've since been enlightened. Nice gloves and boots huh?

Here's one at a distance with some veggies around. Look in the center of the frame and you will see the latest "realtree" APG shirt hanging on a limb, see the shoulder out-line? start at the rock, go up and out back 35yds, see it.

No look at it up close, be honest, did you notice the shoulder?     :smileystooges:    look next to it, on the left, can you see the wool camo shirt?
I would not worry about it one bit, my wool camo does not have any of those dark green patches whatsoever.
