Welcome! I agree with RM81 and Mudd. I was taught, when rifle hunting, that every shot that would hit a paper plate was a killing shot, because a deer's kill zone around the heart and lungs is about the same size. I suppose that would be true for bowhunting, too, but focus on the bullseye! Keep practicing...you're doing great!

Yup, going good. I've been shooting for a long time and there are days (too many) when I don't shoot that well. I'd encourage you to find someone with experience to help you avoid creating any bad habits that might stop you from progressing at some point; but if you're shooting that well on a regular basis you're definately doing something right! Welcome!

Nice shooting from a very nice bow. Envision a "+" where you want your arrow to hit. Might help & you'll see it quicker the more you practice. Welcome.

thanks guys, thats encouraging to hear. although i have yet to shoot at 20yds im hoping that by next fall i will be able to hit the plate consistently enough at 20 to be able to hunt. is 40lbs sufficient enough? or should i start looking now for a 50#?

40# is the minimum in Ohio. Make sure you have sharp broadheads and make a good shot. Not sure if there's a # minimum in NY.

Also, make sure your arrows are tuned to your bow and fly as straight as possible. You'll get better penetration.

thanks straitera ill hav to give that a whirl. always looking for new things to try. as for the bow it was given to me as one of those " iv had this in my garage for 15 years, take it if you want it." so i took the sights and electrical taped quiver off bought a string, did alot of reading and learning (thx tradgang)and started shooting. now i cant wait to get home every day and shoot. def addicting!!

thats one thing im still unsure of when an arrow enters the target at a slightly diff angle than the others. was it a form/release flaw or spine issue? im hoping that once spring arrives longer distance shooting will reveal an answer
