footwear?
« on: February 05, 2011, 12:51:00 AM »
Morning gang, this may seem a bit of an odd question. Does anyone know of a shoemaker currently making "Dyer" type moccasins? This time of the year I spend an afternoon or two a week roving around in the woods stumpin and just generally being a big kid. I'm not hunting so I feel no need to get in the swamp, somehow I just got it stuck in my head that I would like the feel of them. Thanks gang

if you can find them, these are the next best things to mocs, you really feel the ground, they do not have a lug sole, they are light and breathe, i don't wear them to work, but otherwise live in them barring very cold temps.

Cleve,
I just did a search on "dyers" and found a whole page full of good stuff for you.

I think I'll do some research on those as well. Never heard of 'em.

I like those Knee High Side Lace ones from carldyers.com and the "thigh high NZ wool socks. Bet they would go together like peas and carrots in this lovely butt deep snow we got. LOL

I'v always liked the "LL BEAN Hunting Shoe" Thin sole with shallow tread ya can feel thru, rubber bottoms to keep your footsies dry& warm, + the bottoms are replaceable when worn out.
