New Korean Hwarang (with pics)
« on: June 10, 2007, 01:42:00 AM »
Posted this on a couple other sites...thought I'd share it with the Gang as well.  New Korean Hwarang "horsebow"...awesome little unit so far.  Looking forward to working with the ring...as you can see I have also been shooting it two under.  Makes a great diversion from more "standard" bows.  Whadya ya'll think?

That's a cool bow! I like the looks of those horse bows and plan to have one someday.

Very cool. They siyhas (sp?) are a lot different on that one than the other horse bows I've seen.

I got to play with one at the archery shop a couple months ago. They are definitely fun bows! I couldn't manage to shoot it worth a dang with my thumb, though. I'm sure it is a matter of getting used to a whole new type of shooting. I was starting to get the hang of it shooting with fingers though. I'd love to do a 3D shoot with one sometime.

I like how these bows are decorated also. It really gives the bow a different "feel"... shooting something meant for war, rather than hunting. Not your quiet stalking through the forest sort of bow... yelling, screaming, galloping breakneck speed by people trying to kill you sort of bow.

Jerry,
That'd be some picture...I can barely sit on a statue of a horse without falling off.

tamure,
You're right, the siyahs are pretty minimalistic compared to lots of other horsebows, but these are definitely static and stout.

mikeG,
So far the thumbring shooting is going OK...there is certainly a learning curve, but I think most of us can do it with a bit of practice.  I'll PM you the purchase information as I am not sure the admin would allow it.

This one is 52#@30"....that's measured as a "true draw" BTW...from center of limb at arrow pass to end of nock, that is.

Neat, Rob. I'm gonna put those two examples of Full Draw of the horsebow on my TBD pages (Page13). What's a brother for?
