Touching a life with a piece of wood and a string.
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:03:00 AM »
Some of you may remember Casey here. He lost his father last year. He just turned 8.

Last night I am hanging out with the family and the phone rings, the caller ID shows it's the wife's best friend so I give her the phone she hands it back to me. Tells me it is Casey and he wants to talk to me. Kasey likes to "be funny" so he says this is the President calling. He goes through this elaborate story and says he needs me to be his body guard for an upcoming function. After we get done talking I am pretty confused but laughing. His mother comes on the phone and tells me they have a parents/grand parents day this Thursday at his school. It is a lunch and little presentation ceremony the kids have for the parent/adult that has had a positive impact on their young lives and he has asked if I'll be his guest for the day. I was more than a little blown away. Last thing he asked me before he said goodbye is if he and his sister could come shoot bows with me and Jake during winter vacation.

Amazing the impact some time with a little stick and string can have on a kid.

Giuseppe said after making Pinnochio, "A little wood and some string, and magic happens."

Best to you and your little friend.  Sounds like something that would make my eyes water just a bit.   :clapper:
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Im pretty sure that was more than enough fuel to keep you going.  You have touched more lives than you probably know with all of your generosity, you have shown here on the gang.  Congrats to you.

It's a feeling we can all share Joe. I bet everyone has a "Casey or McKenzie" with in spitting distance of them that would appreciate someone to take them out to shoot in the backyard. I mean we're going to shoot anyways so there should be room for one more don't you think?
