Does any one Know what the brace height for a 52" 46#@28" Browning Nomad Stalker recurve or a 58" 50@28"  Bear Grizzly recurve which is about 8 years old?

I would start at around 7.5" and go from there.

Generally,on recurves a lower brace height contributes to arrow speed (since the arrow remains on the string longer). A higher brace height usually gives greater accuracy (since the arrow is on the string for a shorter time) without errors in form. Lower brace heights are usually recommended for shorter bows and higher for longer ones, but a particular bows performance needs to be tested. Nominal brace height ranges are 52"- 7 1/4" to 7 3/4"; 56"- 7 1/2" to 8" and 60"- 8" to 8 1/2". Just my two cents.

Mark - Those ranges you've given, are you speaking at deepest part of grip, or back of riser, or front of riser, just curious?

Thanx

My Nomad is set at 7 1/16" and the grizzly is at   8 1/16" so I guess that's about right.

Zbone Brace Height is measured from the centre of the bow grip to the bowstring at 90 degrees, which would be the deepest part of grip.

Question to Bear Customer Care:

Dear Sir/Ms.,

I have an early 1970s Bear Grizzly recurve (50#@28", AMO 58 inches) that I purchased used.  I replaced the string with a Dacron B-50 string.  What is the recommended range for the brace height for this bow?  Thank You!

Reply:

7.5 to 8.5 inches
