What bow would you like to see made again
« on: February 10, 2011, 03:25:00 PM »
Must be bored, so I was just thinking… always a sketchy proposition… I’ve been a gun nut even a bit longer than a bow nut.  Which for both, is longer than I care to think about sometimes.  Anyway a common discussion I have with other seasoned (old) firearms enthusiasts is, what gun that is no longer made would we like to see come back. For me it’s the Colt Diamondback, especially the 4” 38 I let slip away. A better messing around in the woods handgun hasn’t been made IMHO.

Anyway are there bows no longer being crafted that you wished would make a comeback? I know some obviously can’t for the artisans have passed over to the happy hunting grounds. But for me it would be a Jack Howard Gamemaster(?). I can still remember as a kid drooling over his wonderful catalogs and the color pictures of those beautiful glossy rosewood risered bows with white limbs. Heck I would just like to have one of his catalogs.

So what bow would you like to see made again?

I'm with Biggie on this one, bring back the Appalachians. I still need a Seneca, a Little Laurel and a Savage River to complete my set.

Browning recurves - but then I probably wouldn't be willing to pay what they would have to charge.    :biglaugh:

(Regards your Colt Diamondback - I have a 6" S&W M-14 (DA) Target Masterpiece in .38 Spl. from about 1955.  Sweet small-game pistol.  S&W reintroduced it for $850!)

I know Bear still makes the Super Kodiak,  but not like the black beauties back in '67, '68...
