Moving to oregon!
« on: February 14, 2011, 09:31:00 PM »
I'm moving to Oregon.  We will be living outside of Lebanon, to the east.  Excited to get to know some of you guys and get to know the state!  Should be a riot.  We are finally going on our "permanent camping trip" (so dubbed by my boys).

Anybody know anything I should know?  Resources, hot-spots, events, etc?

Thanks and enjoy!

Thanks guys!  I vacillated posting this.  But alas, even a solitary man needs community.

I'm mourning leaving my native Wyoming, though I've vowed to be back every September.  The sage in bloom, the antelope on every street corner, the loneliness available, etc.

On the other hand, the northwest is calling me!  I hear there are a couple elk in Oregon, so with some time and work I hope to get in them. pretty excited to get out there.

I only live 9 miles from Lebanon. Do all my deer hunting just the other side of Lebanon on Scott Mt. PM me when you arrive and are settled in and perhaps we can meet up for coffee. I'm not the local authoritarian on elk but, can give you some things to consider. Lots of camping, fishing and hunting opportunities going toward the Cascades. And believe me, you ain't that far from them!

Welcome to Oregon! Definitely go to the Pope and Young shoot in Brownsville this summer.  PM me before you go and I'll meet you up there and shoot with you.  Great trad shoot!

Great Hunting...I like the turkeys down in Jackson County...that being said, the income and property taxes drove me to Washington.  Never looked back.

Welcome to the west end.  Lots of great things to do in Oregon.  Come up to the Moses Lake Shoot in eastern WA.  Make sure to go to Western States Rondevous it is in Oregon this year.

Don't miss Raptor Archery up in Hood River, just the drive up along the Columbia is worth it.  And be sure to get your kids and Mrs. over the coast.

Oh boy, you're in for it now. You'll be hanging out with this Oregon bowhunter crowd! haha  We do get a little wet up here. But that's why it's so green and the animals are so healthy. After a year or three you'll be a real "mossy back".  Born and raised, 4th generation. It would be fun to meet up at the Pope & Young and talk hunting  Oregon/Wyoming. Just ask anyone were the TAB (The Adventurous Bowmen)guys camp.

I've traveled to Oregon on several occassions. My wife and I love the coast and have been from one end to the other.  Grants Pass, OR (SW Central) was deemed the best place to live in the U.S. about 6-7 years ago.

Wait until you are driving along the Columbia river some time headed towards Portland. If it's a nice day there will be thousands of windsurfers on the water -- looks like a GIANT mayfly hatch!

If I were able to move, I'd move there.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
