Shdwhwk,

I'm a one piece bow fan and I haven't seen a Cocobolo riser that didn't have the dark reds so to speak..That one of yours looks more like a Bocote but either way I love the color of yours...Any bow that shows a very dark Wavy grain mixed with some brown and topped off with some sort of antler/horn really makes it hard to keep my eyes off of it...You have good taste in wood choice I have to say...

It's Cocobolo, took those pictures the day I picked the bow up from Wes almost 3mos ago. These pictures are from this morning, it's darken a bit and showing more detail. Wes gets the credit for blending the wood together, I just told him what wood to use.

I have a Royal, LB, 44@28 which I got here on TG. It's a great shooter, and the workmanship is superb.

I have a Partner with 48 and 56# limbs and a one piece Mentor and despite the fact that I own 8-10 other great recurves the Wallace bows are my go-to bows 95% of the time.   I bought both of my bows in the early 90s and never had a second's problem with them.

Wes has years of experience in his craft and without detracting from other bowyers, I think Wes makes the best hunting bow on the market.....and I say this without commenting on the beauty of his creations.

Hey Mr. Bartholomew,  that Wes Wallace brings back some good memories. I love the all bamboo limbs.  I often regret getting rid of it,  but the 64" length was a little much for me and I got a nice Zipper in the trade, so it's all good.

One piece Mentor with Macassar Ebony. Also a late 80's original Shadow by Jim Brackenberry. If my history is correct Mr. Wallace was a bowyer for Jim at this time. Not that long ago I needed a new set of limbs for my Brackenberry and contacted Wes. He made me limbs designed like the originals. Little wider and narrow at the tips. Great guy to deal with and very nice bows!!

Burnsie/Troy,

Yes, the Wes Wallace is an excellent bow. What was the line in the movie, DANCES WITH WOLVES,... "good, good trade".

Yes, Wes is an easy dog to hunt with. Got my first custom recurve from him in 94. Two sets of limbs and three longbows later,  I got my latest longbow 1 1/2 yrs ago. 50# @ 30"draw, 66". boo on boo with bubinga and sedgua riser. She is fast and but for shooter error, acurate. No pics but can highly reccomend Wes as a boyer of choice. Super nice fellow to work with. Jerry Deglow

These are photos of my new Wallace short riser. Wes's B-model Mentor. My normal 60" limbs makes this bow a 56"

68" 55lb Cocobolo riser w/Bocote accent & veneers over bamboo limbs. Best shooting longbow I've ever had.
