Heres a pic from today. I started shooting a longbow about 3 weeks ago and this is the first oppurtunity to shoot outdoors.This is approx. 120 shots from 15 yds. I was totally worn out for the last dozen shots but Im having so much fun I cant stop shooting. Ive been restricted to my basement at 6 yds and the extra yardage was quite an adjustment. my main goal is to hunt with this bow in October and it looks like Ill need alot of practice. By the way they were all shot for the center ring.

Ah, yes... I remember it well! Got started and couldn't stop... My first efforts were at my indoor target, shooting through the garage and the furnace room door to where the target was. Have to admit that if I had a picture of it, it would include a couple of holes in the furnace room door frame!

Hang in there, it'll tighten up... :^)

SSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!! Tell them you were drawing a Dot to Dot of an elephant. Let them spend a couple hours looking at the pic.

Hah, looks familiar! Nice shotgun pattern you got going! I'm in the same boat here with hunting season now ticking down in about 8 months.

Lots of time to work on form & accuracy. Don't overdo, best to focus on quality vs. quantity

I'm doing the same thing been shooting for about a month steady.
Things are really starting to come together.
I was starting to get discouraged but when I put the bow down for three days and let my arm rest .I picked it up and the first 50 shots wow I could of shot a fly off the potato salad at 20 yards.
I found to much shooting for a new guy doesn't help.
at least in my case.

True, I find the more I shoot the more tired I get. But Im having so much fun I hate to stop. Perhaps after today I'll take a couple days off or just shoot a couple dozen per day. i have to remember that this is only the third time Ive shot outdoors at more than 6 yds.

Doing good keep up the practice you'll get there. I started inside my garage, still have holes in the overhead door.

Looks like you got your money's worth, you used the whole target and just not the center of the bulls. Have fun

Kevin,

Just make sure that as soon as you feel any shoulder pain (not necessarily fatigue) you stop. When I started, I was shooting like crazy and had to lay off for a week because of tendinitis (or something sore in my shoulder). I'm now working on being consistent on stance, grip, anchor, draw, and using push-pull, and I'm slowly getting more accurate (and trying to avoid picking up some bad habits).

I'm with you on the practice, I shoot 5 days a week in my basement this time of year...about 100 a day, experiment a little too. Finally understand that the arrow goes where I point it...if my form is correct and I have made a full anchored draw (which doesn't happen all the time). The most important thing is I love shoot the arrows and I use all my bows (6). Too much fun not to shoot them all. You may not want to hear this, but I shoot my compound on occassion and every now and then I shoot a crossbow...it's just fun shooting arrows at things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually got pretty accurate at 6 yds in my basement. If I could transfer that to 15 yds now Id be happy. It's also tough with the neighbors looking over occasionally wondering what Im up to now. I was never any good in front of an audience., except friends Ive shot with. I hope to post another target in a month or so and see if there is any improvement.
