At the grocery store. Get a bird and cook it. Save the wing bone.

The best bones come from a wild turkey hen. The jakes wingbones also make a good call with pitch and tone.

The domestic birds bones just do not have a good pitch and tone to them due to being thicker and bigger then the wild ones.

I personnelly used wingbones for many years befor switching to the trumpet call.

I know a custom call maker that makes outstanding wingbone calls. PM sent.

I made one from a store bird a few years ago. I just bought the wings.  Available at some grocery stores.  Especially during the fall. Lots of fun!!

3Feathers -While wing bone calls are extremely effective, learning to be proficient on one may be more difficult than expected. I would suggest obtaining a reputable mid priced call.
Note: You don't have to be proficient on one to call in birds. You just may wish to have the confidence in your skills before you build one.

Nice calls may have a waiting list with a lead time rivalling some bows. As a matter of fact, I've been waiting on a special trumpet call since 1994. Doubt I will ever get it. I have had two call makers call me this year that I had been on their waiting list for three years.

I love wing bones but prefer trumpets especially since they are typically much more dureable. Both calls operate in the same way.

I would offer to pick one up for you at the NWTF national convention in Nashville this weekend, however I just got home from the hospital and my wife already said she would shoot me if I tried to go. There are ~550 booths there with custom call makers from all across the country, Canada and Central America. ~40,000 people attend and I will just have to miss this year.

Best of luck!!
