New bow in the house
« on: February 18, 2011, 07:53:00 PM »
Wife calls me this morning about 10:00, right in the middle of a class lecture,... and says UPS brought a skinny flat package from Nixa.  She knows what’s up so this is a really nice gesture for her to call and let me know its here right..

NOT... Now I am thinking about driving the 20 miles each way on lunch break to get the bow... Calmer heads prevailed although not without some prodding to go get it from my students..  Only reason is they wanted to shoot it..

So, I get home (left a bit early) and pop the box..

Here it is:  Black Widow PL II TD, 64",  44#@28 with a LAG grip.  When I went to order this bow I promised my self that I was going to stick with the PL II Greybark.  I already have a PLX Bocote and Cocobolo.

Well, I did stick with it but I also added something.  Those of you familiar with Widows have no doubt seen the "Overlays" you can have laser engraved for the bow.  Well, I did not want something that fancy so I talked with Roger and had them put the black overlays like on the PTF in the catalog on the bow.  I think they are cool...  Old guy here

Pics are not great but you get the idea …..

Here is a shot of the overlay below the grip

And here are two shots of the LAG grip

This grip is about exactly what I wanted.  Set her up and here are the first 4 arrows at 20 yds.  These were a mixture to see what might be best.

Needless to say, I am a happy camper.  Those guys know how to build a bow and are just plain some of the nicest folks I have ever done business with.  Oh yea, she shoots an AD Nitro Stinger (yellow writing) with 145 gn points pretty good.  I did not get a pic of that target but they are all inside about a 3" circle at 20 yds...
