Trap's feather rests
« on: February 19, 2011, 03:06:00 PM »
Last year I bought a custom Ed Holcomb bow based on the 1959 Bear Kodiak and decided to use a feather rest on it as produced by a fellow who posts on Tradgang named "TRAP"...aka Darryl Damron. I was a little unsure as to the durability of these feather rests being that they are made of natural turkey feather but thought "what the heck, lets shoot it till it fails". Well, last year I attended 10 trad shoots , most of our  club shoots and did one HECK of a lot of shooting with that Holcomb bow, and only now is it starting to show a little wear on the top of 2 of the feathers.....heck, it's just broken in. That is literally thousands of arrows across it and its very quiet. It's only real pitfall that I saw was the same ome suffered by our feather fletching.....RAIN! I like it better than the rug rest that came on the bow....to anyone considering trying one...DO IT....you'll be suprised.  Thanx....John...Oh yeah...they are CHEAP too!

I Emailed him about placing an order the other day but haven't heard back. Does anyone know if he is still making them?

Trap AKA Daryl is a great guy and has the best feather rest as I have them on most of my bows. Just to let you know what kind of man he is, When I need one for my daughters bow he sent me one  (no charge)for the kids.

Jack, he gets busy and sometimes takes a bit to reply. He'll get back to you.

Kenny,

Thanks, I wanted to order a few for some of my bows that are either missing the originals or they are worn out.

Do you have to change your nocking point with the feather rest?  Looks like something I would try.

stickytoes....just look him up on here under the directory.......annd Charlie...yes, you'll need to elevate your nocking point to accomodate the extra 1/4" to 3/8" of extra elevation off your shelf. you guys will like them....glad to see so many people using them! Brian, nice looking arrow/bow combo to go with that feather rest!....john
