Suggetions for a 3 under tab?
« on: February 19, 2011, 10:49:00 PM »
Kicking around the idea of trying a finger tab. I currently shoot 3 under. I would like to hear about what finger tab you 3 under shooters are using and why. Thanks in advance.

I prefer a simply PSE King calfhair tab with a plastic finger separator. I've shot three-under for more years than I can remember, but have never liked the feel of "three-under tabs."

I shoot either a Black Widow palm tab, or one that I custom make to my liking. I also shoot three under.

make yer own tab.  it's too easy.  use thin leather from a shoe tongue or handbag or whatever.  craft stores sell swatches of thin leather.  if the leather feels too thin, double or triple it up.  here's my tab pattern that i've used for over 40 years, just eliminate cutting in the arrow notch and you'll have a fine 3fu tab ...

Like Rob, I make my own but use a second half layer sewn on.  I use cordovan leather for the half section...just seems slicker for me.  Doc

i've been using a black widow tab for a while and love it, the best i've tried so far.

we also have a bunch of them both split finger and 3 under for customers to borrow while shooting on our range and they all seem to like them as well.

they are layered with a rubbery material that adds a thickness and softness to it making them very comfortable.

Rob-Doc,

Since I have little to no experience with tabs, I think I will make a few of my own. Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

Kevin,

I use a XL Super Archery Mitt (SAM) and it works great.  I too shoot 3-under and it doesn't come off while shooting like I experience with other type tabs.  It has a leather lace that goes around your wrist and it comes on and off easily.   It big enough to cover all your fingers and the string won't catch you upon release which is very painful if you have arthritis issues in your fingers like me.

Good luck.
