Shooting my new Vyperkahn

Well I have been shooting my new triple carbon Vyperkahn for almost 2 weeks. The weather has just sucked but I have managed to get it tuned. Perfect bare shaft flight and hitting right with my fletched arrows. I must say I am very impressed with this bow. Fast and quiet, having some issues with the different grip than I am used to but shooting very well just the same, maybe some day it will get warm enough to shoot without a glove! Really happy with the bow. Glad I went ahead and did it, didn't even need a divorce attorney!

We are all indivuals in what we prefer or may not have yet discovered what we even we actually prefer. Also, many times when doing something quite different it initially seems awkward.


Shot a buddy's VK over four years. The bow always felt noticeably more comfortable to me than my own bows that I had literally shot 1000's of times. The VK was 55# @ 26" and my draw is 28" resulting in a draw wt far more than I am accustomed. The Habu grip was always the 1st thing that grabbed me and said...you are holding what you need.

Logically, I had to find a way and with the help of TG members(not monetarily), I was able to acquire my own.

I have Andy Coopers Viperkahn and I belive it is the most comfortable generic grip I have ever felt on a bow. Bob Lee grip is close but the Habu is better. Andy also sent me a Dale Dye riser and the grip on it is even better but it was custom fit. I think for me Haha.

I have a Vyperkahn, a Habu Recurve, and a Death Adder. VK is Bacote, Recurve is Cocobolo, and the DA is Macasser Ebony. It is really hard to find more quality in a bow than those produced by Chris.

Are you guys shooting carbon, alluminum, or wood in your Habu bows?

Any trouble bare shafting carbons?

Yesterday my wife asked me, "Are you about done buying bows?".  I told her yes I think I am, but there are two, make that three that I'm still drawn to but have never seen: Habu Hycurve, BBD or Cascade, and Morrison.  I should probably put my name on the Habu list -- it takes long enough to get up to bat on the Habu that my lovely's question will be long forgotton?

I'm with you man.  I've been shooting the heck out of mine.  I absolutely love it.  I love the grip on Habu bows.  I really love the way the tripple carbon "feels" during the shot.  I even like it much better than my double carbon!

I'm shooting easton full metal jacket dangerous game 300's with 150 grain points. 650 gr arrow. No trouble bare shafting, Just lack of time to work on it. Did't set up the crony yesterday. 196 fps with that arrow. Thats alot of whop!

I'm gonna cut a set of bare shafting arrows tomorrow. Will probably cut 4 different lengths, and vary them by .250" maybe .312" should make it really convenient to bare shaft about any bow I want to shoot. I've got a couple of new sets of arrows, not even sure what I've got out there. Oh well, time to start diggin everything out again, and get on with it.

196 fps with that arrow is packin some serious thump! Thanks for the help guys, I'm drawing right at 28" also, so should have a good starting point. Most of my arrows are right at 29" but I'm probably gonna put a little more weight on the tip than I have been, so I may be able to shorten up a 1/4" or so.

Very easy bow to shoot accurately.The generic grip along w/ a remarkable design thruout the bow,dose make the VK a joy the shoot.

The Vyperkahn grip has been described several times as being generic. Mine must be custom since it conforms to my hand much.. more favorably than any bow I have had the opportunity to shoot.

The grip in my opinion is the most important bow feature and is quite individualistic. Just because the grip is ideal for one, the grip may be a total mismatch for someone else.

The Habu grip for me is anything but generic.
