"Perfect Release"
Ever so gently
Yet with such force
The string slips from the fingers
And sets the arrow too its course
In paradox it wiggles
Then straightens itself out
On target too its mark
In my mind there's no doubt
The flight is so beautiful
I watch it in awe
Still like a statue
Stuck at full draw
In the quiet morning air
A resounding smack
My quarry and foe
Has dropped in its track
The hunt had been long
Full of trouble and strife
But, I whispered a prayer
And gave thanks for its life
I sat there in silence
Waiting for the shaking to cease
And my mind pondered over
The perfect release
How it all came together
With that perfect release

Are you ever going to compile these awesome poems of yours into a book?

Jim, my wife has been asking me that same question for a few years now. You should see the pile that she has!
I wrote some good ones while on my deployment.
