My New Lost Creek "Legend"
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:54:00 PM »
After spending countless hours reading through posts on this site, and several conversations with bowyers, i ordered my first custom bow.

Chad down at Lost Creek is a great guy to work with and I really like the R/D design of his bows, especially his new Legend.

Put my order in for a legend, 62" and 52# at 30" draw, making it roughly 55# at my 31.5" draw. Camo actionwood riser, actionboo cores, stained sassafras limb lams over the boo.

Chad actually let me come by his shop so he could custom fit the grip to my hand. Very easy to work with!

Went down and picked it up Sunday, and i gotta say i'm impressed. Shot it over the chronograph at chad's place.

chrono'd it with a 400 grain arrow at 260fps.
with 450grain arrow at 240fps

i'm waiting on my new arrows to come in from 3rivers to chrono it again.

I'll post pics tonight when i take 'em!

those are great looking bows! looking forward to the pics.  260 is compound speed, im wondering if the chrono is off.  even at approx 7.5gr and your long draw 260 seems scary fast. in any case they are great looking bows and id like to own one some time soon...

I, myself, would like to see the bow shot over another chrono, with a 500 grain arrow, to see what it's FPS, as it's possible that my chrono is off. I had him shoot a 420 grain arrow, that was 28" and it shot 220 FPS. Are there any willing Tradgang members close to HawkEye Archer, that has a chrono,   :dunno:    :dunno:    willing to test it?

Love those Lost Creeks!!  Congrats

You should probably check you chrono numbers should be around 190ish with 400 grains and 180ish with 450 grains at your insane draw!!!

Still smokin fast   :)

Eric, Good luck with the new bow. I just received a Lost Creek Life Ender a few weeks ago and love shooting that bow. Ditto on dealing with Chad, great guy. You can tell he really puts his heart and soul into his bows.

I know everyone is expecting me to chime in. I always worry when I praise Chad's bows so much to those looking to spend their money because what if they don't like it? I would feel so badly. It always feels so good when I read how happy another member of the "I love my Lost Creek Bow Club" is. Congrats & let us know how she does on the next test.

It's way over 190 at 31" even with a 450 grain arrow. I just shot a new N.A.T. over the same chrono with the same arrows. They were between 189 and 212 fps at a 28" draw. I may need to check the same bow with the same arrows at the local bow shop. Speed's not everything, its a just a nice factor if the bow has all the other good shooting qualities. Thanks Chad

I love the looks of the risers on those Legends!

Chad, any chance you'll be at ATAR or another event in this direction?  I'd really like to get my hands on one of those in a 60" version.

My wife's NAT 42@28 drawn to 26.25" to about 26.5" got from 172 to 176 with 6 shots. the arrows were about 430 grain 1816s with 145 grain points and five inch feathers. I can imagine if it was drawn to 30 plus like this Legend model it would shoot the splinters faster than the arrow, but that's the cool thing about a truly custom bow, what it does for the individual that ordered it is all that matters.  I am going find a need for one myself one of these days.  Back to bed, just had to let the dog out.
