Good friends = Good time!
« on: February 26, 2011, 08:28:00 PM »
Thought I post a few pictures of a couple Trad Gang members and one soon to be one, that I met through the site in my local area.  I had made some carpet target last week after getting the ideal from Kurt Bernard aka Possumhead. Well today Kurt and his son and law  (I think?) Riley came over and we tried her out.  Although with me shooting we spent quite a bit of our time looking for arras. I plan on making some more and setting up a better course. Had alot of fun!

Me getting ready to release a lost arras

Kurt (Possumhead) shooting his Ragim 56? 54#@30"

His son in law Riley  shooting a Samick spec's?

Nice pics, good for you, that's great fellowship!

Thanks for sharing. Can you let us know what bows you're shooting? I love putting a bow name to a pic.

John-looks like you had a lot of fun and the weather looks much better where you are rather that here in Michigan!
How did you make the targets? Thanks.

James, sorry I missed your question.  I'm in Vancleave, Kurt lives in Hurley and I think Riley does too.

Kenny the target are made from scrap carpet folded over to make 4 layers and then bound with bailing wire.  Make your fold so the depth of the target simulates the depth of a deer approximately 12". Then run a wire/rope though the layers and fasten to brush trees, etc.. to hold up.  You can make them broadside, quartering away, uphill, down whatever strike your fancy. A soon as I find more carpet I have another ideal of outlining the shapes of other game, rabbits, turkey, etc... and cutting them out to make 4 layer And then fashion some means to hold them up so as to shoot.

Does the carpet tear up the finish on your arrow pretty good? When I was a lot younger my Step dad made a target with stacked carpet strips that were held together with all thread rod and 2x4's on top and bottom. Kinda sandwiching the carpet pieces together. It was only shot at with wheelies and the arrows never made it more that half way thru but it was a real pain trying to pull them out. Especially for a lil' shaver.

Always a great time to get together with fellow trad shooters.  Thanks for sharing.

Can't agree more! Thanks for those nice pics
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.
