You Always Remember The 1st
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:17:00 AM »
I finally talked the cute blond in the mini skirt into going on a date with me.  Not much of a date, (went with me to watch me bowl in a league) but a date that her parents let her go on anyway.  Since bowling wasn't until 9 p.m. ther was just enough time for the two of us to go set in a ground blind and see if the deer would show in the clover field!
I had to set her about 15 yds. away behind a large rock and of course out come the deer!  I couldn't believe I was going to get a shot and with my new girl watching besides!
As the lead doe came in at a mere 40 yds.  I drew the 45# recurve back and let fly.  Crack!  The deer hit the ground!  I bailed out of my hiding place went to the deer, finished it off, ran back to my girl gave her a big hug & kiss and....I can't believe that was 41 yrs. ago!!!  I still give her that big hug and kiss everytime I make another kill with my bow to this very day!

That's just awesome Longbowman!!! Congratulations!!

I have a feeling that she gets hugged and kissed more frequently than just when you make a kill though or else she'd be spending her time with someone else...lol

I am very happy for the both of you!

Have a good and Godly day!

God bless,Mudd

Good story and better ending. Best of luck to you but obviously you know the important things in life. Family and hunting.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

The only thing that could make that story better is if she had whipped-out her own knife and field-dressed the deer then helped drag her out.    :bigsmyl:

Awesome story for sure... it always adds a little something extra when you bring a special person to the woods with you be it a friend, girlfriend, or a kid who wants a chance!

Great!  Closest I can come to that was telling aI girl I had a date to a formal with that I was going to be hunting that day and if I had hit or killed a deer I might be a little late.  She called back an hour later to let me know her cousin had just called and would be in town, so she was going to go with him. Ah well.  It was one of the most memorable days of hunting I ever had, so it was worth it.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
