Went listening for birds this morning!
« on: Today at 10:25:32 AM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last week i checked a few trail cameras and had a couple of pictures of some strutters. its been warm lately so i have been dieing to go listen for some gobblin! as soon as i stepped out of the truck i heard goblin in every direction. right down the road is a field. its easy to slip into. i knew these turkeys would head that way. so i slipped in and beat them to it. it was a great day for scouting got a few strutters on film. it was a great day to watch the woods wake up.
I made sure i took all my calls out of my vest so i would not be tempted to call to them. it worked out perfect. i slipped out after all of them left the field. they didnt have a clue i was there spying on them!!! enjoy
I WANT TO SHOOT ONE WITH MY LONGBOW SO BAD!!

Please don't talk about turkeys, I have to WORK!!! LOL
That's the most addictive form of hunting for me! I can't handle it. I'm going to me float calling for a friend of mine in three weeks. He'll be in a blind with a sweet little recurve.
Nothing like the thunder of a tom at 20 yards!!!! That's it, I might as well do home for the day.

Great video! That should get everyone fired up to be in the woods! Very nice looking country you have over there. I could almost imagine a buck chasing a doe in the field. Thanks for sharing!

I was not going to watch it, then ya'll started comments. I couldn't get past 2 1/2 minutes! I'm going listen this weekend even though I know where they are and I know where they are going, I can't stand it.

You need to find a different spot, not enough birds there to hunt. LOL What, you hunting a turkey farm?
Like Chesty Puller said, well they got us surrounded, that makes things a little easier.
Great scouting trip and video. Thanks for sharing. I hate you. LOL

Some great looking natural blinds along that field bud. Especially those dead leafy branches along the back edge. A ghillie in one of those and they wouldn't stand a chance! I'll take one, you take the other
Of coure a DB set right out in the middle would be killer as well!
Good stuff bud, I can't wait!

Well, this kinda blow's my mind! How in the world are you John? I've been on these sites for years, and never put it together until just now when watching your scouting vid. I thought your hunting area looked a lot like mine.
I'm in the club that borders you, and I used to live accross the street from you. I've been shooting the trads for a long time. Hope you, and family are all well. Oldest daughter just had our first grandson a month ago.
Take Care, tell your mother hello for us, and I'll be in touch.
