Yes they were made by VPA for Big Jim. It was 300 gr screw in and 250 gr glue on. No more available unfortunately. Maybe if enough interest Big Jim could bring them back. I still own 14 of them. One killed 11 game and lost 20 gr after many resharpening. They are same size than the 160 gr snuffers but much tougher and without the noise of those vented snuffers.
I shoot a heavy set up and arrow penetration had never been an issue.

Just curious how many of those Simmons shots are passing through, maybe I will give them a try. For me thats huge, two medium size holes are better than one big IMHO. Maybe I am wrong. To each their own, what ever flies straight and gives you confidence. I switched from woodsmans to grizzlys and am not looking back.
Great Thread!
I've had complete pass thru on all the deer I've shot with ANY Simmons broad head. I use my CHX 44@28

Not the best picture but VPA 200's on through the shoulder of a mature dow, complete pass through.  Side note, it took about 2 minutes to have it ready to shoot the next deer with.

175 grain Tiger Shark.

It wasn't a pass through, but I hit the humerus and it glanced back into the rib cage. It clipped the back lobe off of both lungs. The blood trail was impressive! It made kind of a funny scraping noise when I hit her.

Notice the triceps muscle sliced off the bone. You can see the entry hole in the rib cage is back farther than I would have thought based on where the arrow hit. There was only one hole, but it was large and low, so the trail was bright red and pretty short.

I sharpen with a jewel stick and finish with a few strokes on a set of crock sticks. They are scary sharp! This is the first year I've used them. So far, I'm impressed.

Magnus Stinger 125g 4 blade, Easton axis trad with 3/4" aluminum footing, 150g brass insert for a total arrow weight of ~615g, shot from a Javaman Inferno 56", 51# @ my 28" draw. About 17yard pass thru.
Ps. This thread should be stickied to the top, and I don't like the new photo bucket! Lol

We need to add some 2014 Kill pics to this.  After reading all the way through, I have realized that there are more broadheads out there than a man will ever need.

I also feel that the simmons land sharks may be slight over kill.  As a hunter, my first desire is to eat my prey(after killing of coarse).  If you miss your spot and hit the front shoulder or spine the deer, you will lose a good bit of meat from what I saw in the pictures.

Anyone else feel the same way?
Maybe overkill.....but, they appear to be recovered, just thinking out loud. Scott.

I agree that maybe (anecdotal information at best) more muscle tissue is sliced, but isn't that the whole object with our weapons of choice?

The cutting of tissue that results in a quick and as humane death as possible? This should be our goal and using a broad head that is effective in recovery is a win win situation

Now some of the angle of the shot with those Simmons contributed to massive elongated holes, but again it is hard to anticipate the quick and unexpected moves of deer.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.
