I will be 64 this summer. You have to adapt to the pain and older age. Lighter bows, closer stands, and most important bring a young guy!

No way I would drag a deer when I have a perfectly good knife in my pocket... I cut 'em up in easily carried pieces.  May be illegal in other states.

I'm 57 and hunt hard. And I'm extremely fortunate that I can also hunt very often. I hope to be hunting for many years to come, God willing.

I think it's the lure of a tradition bow that will keep most of us hunting for a long, long time.

I'll turn 63 during the whitetail rut this year. My body is in pretty bad shape from having polio as a child, but I still manage. I always carry a cell phone when I hunt alone, for safety, and I don't use tree stands other than ladder types. Every year it gets harder, but I don't plan to quit any time soon. I hunt with 50-60# bows.

I'm 67 and my wife and I own 23 acres about a mile in from any road. We have found that canoes (when the river is high enough) and deer carts work really well.

I'm 67 also and getting into my program to shape up for a back pack hunt in the White River National Forest in Colorado the week after our antelope hunt in Wyoming.    :D

Here is a picture that accompanied a neat story in our local paper about a guy who is 89 and still hunts every year and gets his deer every year with his recurves.

The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I'm 57 and God has blessed me with excellent physical condition.  While I'm a small guy I still shoot 80# longbows and recurves and I still hike miles to get away from other hunters.  My father-in-law was still hanging and setting his own treestands at 84.  A tuff old WWII vet.

Dave..great picture. I hope I can still do that at 89.

I've been hunting since I was 12...When I was 7, my cousins and I had the job of jumping on brush piles to chase out the rabbits. Also accompanied my father and uncle on deer hunts where I had to "Sit still and keep quiet".

I'll be 59 this August and looking forward to another year chasing critters with my hunting buddies Bamboo and Southpawshooter.

Be 64 in May. Hunt mostly whitetails and hogs and plan on doing so for a while. My bud is 67. We are usually there to help each other out when necessary. Only smart way to do it. If we feel like sleeping in, or just plain going home, that is what we do. Good to see there are so many of us older fella's still enjoying the traditional way. On another note, my bud looks a lot like the fella in David Mitchell's post above. I'm beginning to worry about him, but he claims to have a "teenagers heart".

I'll be 56 in June. Hard to believe this body can still put out after all it has been put through. Years of the Hard rock lifestyle, Drugging, drinking, and womanizing. Hunting hard for over 40 years, over eating, and not enough attention to exercise, have all taken their toll. Even the Doctors tell me my knees are worn out and I have arthritis in every joint. But I changed my ways at 47, stopped smoking, most of the drinking, and took up eating right and exercising regularly. feel better than ever and intend to keep going for many more years. Most all my relations and ancestors lived well in to there 90's and I intend to be hunting till then. Still hunt with an 80# bow and bought another 102# longbow which I use for exercise. Intend to use it on a Gator hunt this year. If my left arm will cooperate.
   :archer:
I enjoy dragging out a kill, and am more than willing to help with the task if I run in to someone in need while hunting.

I just turned 69 and still hunting. I'm perhaps not as nimble as I used to be but I still get around pretty good. I had to drop down in draw weight somewhat, went from 61# to 55# to the 44 pounder that I shoot now. I really enjoy shooting the 44# bow and shoot almost daily. I hope that I can keep doing this for a few more years anyway.....Dave

Will be 65 in November. I've had an artifical leg since I was 21, so am not very fast on my feet. I hunted elk last September in Colorado and plan on going again in 2012. I hunt pigs/javvies every year in Texas. I hunt deer in NC and VA, mostly using ladder stands and blinds now. Use a climber occasionally.
