Ray's Hog Heaven
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:16:00 PM »
Well we're back from our weekend at Ray's and although we did'nt kill any pigs we had a great time as usual.  I had one opportunity but a shift in the breeze took me out of the game.  My buddy Doug was into hogs almost all weekend and I'm sure he'll get on here to tell the tale.
We had a blast despite the weather Sunday morning and plan on heading back as soon as we can.

I can't wait to get my chance down there. Sounds like a fun time.

The only problem with Ray's place is it takes a long time to get the smile off your face from all the fun you had!!!!

Rick & Doug, glad to hear that you made it back home. Thanks for making it a good camp. The southern lemonade and southern hospitality helped.

I was at Ray's two weeks ago for the third time. We made arrangements for next years hunt before we left. I'm already going over a mental check list of things to take and do differently next time.

Doug, you are right, it does take a long time for that smile to leave!

I have to get my wife a better job so I can go to Hog Heaven more than once a year.

I listened a little better to Ray's advice and slowed my pace way down and man did it pay off. I saw hogs all weekend ( in excess of 30) had 'em as close as 6 to 7 yards. I am HOOKED bad now. Shared camp with a great group Tm and his son Ben, Mike and his son Beck, and Dennis, all great guys. Met Andrew while there and of course Ray! This was my second time and looking at heading back in June now. Did I mention 30 plus hogs, how can one not be having a great time.

Doug,

I think you might have seen a few more if you had not spent all weekend hunting in a five to ten acre area!!!!!

Just kiddin'! Glad you guys could make it back!!

Lol, no we gave what was left to Andrew. We picked up more(a lot more!) on the trip home.
I know what you mean, my son Sean was with us last year and had planned to return with us,
but a new job put an end to that.  Needless to say he was pretty disappointed but wants to know when we're going back.  I'm glad Ben had a good time, he and Beck are good kids and fun to be around. Ya gotta love their enthusiasm for Archery and hunting.

Ray, maybe you had Doug shook by the tales of the Spotted Mt. Gorillas so he elected not to wander too far off the trails. Ive also heard of men getting lost in that swamp, especially so called men from the Bronx.

Izzy, I was definately off the trail. I only hunted friday back where we were last year with you and Ray. This year I found a really sweet spot thick, wet, muddy, tall grass and oh yeah lots of hawgs.

If you hunt near the river you may want to pay a visit here first....If the Gators, Spotted Mountain Gorillas, or Mother Green find you, you'll be glad you did.

Izzy if you hunt where Doug did be prepared to shed some blood, and pack some clippers.
