Saturday "Bowhike" with Cade
« on: March 13, 2011, 05:47:00 AM »
Been looking forward to a day like this for a while.  Great weather, hardly any snow, and a whole afternoon to spend in the woods!

We planned to shoot stumps and some arials, build a fire, boil some water to have some hot chocolate, etc...ya know...fun "guy" stuff!

•

My "Randy Morin", and Cade's "Big Ed" longbows...
•

Giant stump...
•

We made these last time we were out in 3ft. of snow...
•

Shots and results...fun stuff!

I have a new 5 arrow EFA angled Totum quiver coming for the new longbow. Looking forward to being able to carry more arrows...

No mistaking the mark of the "Thumper"...

Then we hit an old orchard to try out some new flu-flu's I made for an upcoming hunt we're going on...

Sorry for the mis-orientation of the camera      :knothead:

A couple examples...

Cade hit it as well, but of course we didn't get it on video. We were struggling with a weak battery.

Showing where he hit one...
•

These SGT's sure leave a cool mark...
•

Then we hit the woods again...

Cade was really looking forward to this part...building a fire!
•

•

Took out the MSR Pocket Rocket, and boiled some water for hot chocolate as the sun dropped lower on the horizon...
•

Hot cocoa time...
•

This trip was the longest I've ever stayed out with Cade on something like this. Usually it's just an hour or two we squeezed in.

We ended up staying out about 4 hrs. and wished we could have stayed longer.

But, it was time to get back to our girls for dinner. We made it back to my truck right at dark...

Life is GOOD ! Great pics......
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

Good on you Guru. I did the same thing with my daughters 40 years ago and they still talk about it. Good on you.
