Disappointed

I bought my 1st longbow this week,it arrived Friday.I got up early this morning grabbed my bow & headed outside to shoot it.
I took 3 shots & on the 3rd shot I thought I heard a crack sound, but I wasn't sure,I knocked another arrow & as I drew back on the string, the top of the bow snapped about a foot from the top.
Soory way to end the week. :(

Sorry to hear that. That happened to me abut 25 years ago, kind of scarry. The main thing is I hope you are ok. You can always get another bow, but you only have one pair of eyes.

It is a very scary situation. I was at archery school last year and the guy next to had the same thing happen. Wood and glass went everywhere including all over both of us. Not good. It was a high end bow too. Lucky for him the builder was at the school as well and saw it all. Glad your ok.

return the bow! was it used or new. if it is custom I am sure the maker will take care of it and you.

“instinctive archery” is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

I think what saved me from getting injured was that I didn't get to draw all the way,but it did scare the %^$& out of me.
My 19yr old daughter is home for spring break & I was waiting for her to come outside so she could try shooting it also, thank God she never got to try it.
The worst part about this whole thing is that now I have to start saving for another bow.

Had that happen too and it will stain your undies on the spot.....................don't let us know who made the bow. It can happen with any bow new or old.

Cool username!
Sorry to hear it. Don't let it stop you from getting back in the saddle. Sounds like maybe it was already cracked before you bought it if it split like that right off the bat. Might want to take that up with the seller. Or it could have been improper stringing. Did you use a stringer?

Sorry too hear this, just glade no one was hurt. What weight was the bow and your draw lenght. Had one blow on me years ago, found out my 30" draw was not good for a 58" bow.

I checked the bow out completely before I strung it,& the only thing I notice about it was that when strung the upper part of the bow seemed a little wider than the lower, but I don't think that would've been the cause for the accident, but what do I know.Lol
The bow was 66"45@28
I tried to post pics.but I don't know how

I have had several bows come apart on me at full draw but not recently purchased bows. I have had individuals unsuspecting or not attempt to sell me bows that upon closer inspection reveal potential performance flaws. I would contact the seller and express the situation and your dismay. The majority of people I know would be concerned and attempt to work with you. If minor loss, be thankful you didn't get a good konk on the head, cause they hurt .

Was this a selfbow or a glass backed bow?(new or used), recurve or longbow?
I'm sorry for your bad experience and the fact that you don't have another bow to shoot.
I am willing to make you the loan of another bow until you get yours replaced either by the seller or just get a different bow.
God bless,Mudd
