Grizzly 115 Grain Broadhead: 5/16" or 11/32" Ferrule?
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:44:00 AM »
I've been to the Grizzly broadhead website and I can't find any information on what size ferrule the Grizzly 115 grain glue on broadhead takes.

Does anyone shoot this broadhead? If so, does it take a 5/16" or 11/32" ferrule?

They are 11/32" if you have "new" ones, and 21/64" if you have "old" ones, both will take an 11/32" adapter.

We no longer carry the lightest Grizzly...over time we found them too fragile and we won't sell anything that I wouldn't or don't use myself.  You'd be better off IMO jumping to the 130 and adjusting your adapter weight accordingly.

My wife is going to the 115s lw with the 11/32 adapter. should make a 145 total weight.  Should be good enough for deer.  The right wings have done fine at the 115 grain for us, but most of the time we have used 125s and 160s.  They make a good match to the 145 target points if you use the 30 grain adapter.

Since I need a 150 grain point weight for my 37# bow shooting a 2212 aluminum arrow, I came to this conclusion. Use a Magnus 2 blade screw in 150 grain Stinger or the Grizzly 115 grain glue on glued to a 36 grain screw in Zwickey long broadhead adapter.

If a lot of metal has to come off the Grizzly 115 to make it shaving sharp and to make the 150 grain weight, I also have some Magnus screw in long broadhead glue on adapters which weigh 42 grains.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the 150 grain 2 blade Magnus screw in Stingers.

Those would be an excellent choice Joe, I suggest you stock up now.  Magnus has discontinued the 2 blade 150 Stingers, there is still product in the pipe line but there won't be anymore, Magnus told me they'd likely be completely gone before this coming hunting season.

Tim,

I thought Magnus was getting rid of their glue on line of broadheads. Not their screw in line.      The 150 Stinger screw ins seem to be popular.

The 150 2 and 4 blades have been extremely popular with our traditional customers, but overall Magnus says the 2 blade wasn't pulling it's weight.

The 4 blade 150's will remain however.

Because I shoot light bow poundages, the 4 blade screw in Stinger 150 isn't an option for me. Since Magnus is doing away with the 150 grain 2 blade Stinger, I found another option.

I remember a topic on a new 2 blade screw in broadhead called the "Werewolf" that I think is made by Eclipse. It isn't out yet.

The 2 blade screw in Werewolf, according to their specs, comes in 150, 175 and 200 grain weights. When the Werewolf comes out for sale, I'll try the black colored Werewolf 150. I haven't decided whether to get it in a double or single bevel. I'll buy both and see which one I like best.

I'd still like to try a 2 blade glue on Grizzly 115, but availability seems to be a big stumbling block.
