Contacting Donald Assenheimer?
« on: March 18, 2011, 04:09:00 PM »
At the beginning of this week I sent an e-mail to the web address listed in the website but have not heard anything.  Before I try and call I though I might check with the rest of you to see if there was an issue with the company.  I don't want to bother them if there is something going on that is taking them away from the business.

Don has had a few health problems but I don't know of anything right now going on.  I assure you that you do not need to be concerned about doing business with Don and Shirley--two mighty fine people.  If he can't take care of you right now he'll tell you. He is one straight up guy.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Actually I had sent him some photos of one of his bows that I have.  It has a couple of dings on the upper limb and I was concerned about shooting it as is or if it needed to be repaired/replaced.

He had a stroke a few months ago, he indicated on Stickbow that he was going to be out of action for awhile.

Maybe the e-mail bounced?
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥

I called them about a month ago.  I didn't know about the health issues.  His wife indicated he was hoping to get back at it in few months, but was not working in the shop yet.

Mr Assenheimer makes very nice shooting bows. Unfortunetely he is like all of us, getting older. Give him time. It's worth it.

I called a couple of weeks ago and he is just starting back in his shop. I don't think he is up and running just yet, he still has some health issues.
