For stain, i use MINWAX, Walnut, Golden Pecan. And as a sealer im using MINWAX polycrylic (water based) protective finish, in my dip tank. And the paints are an acrylic water base paint from Hobby Lobby.

Thanky. I was looking for a cheap and easy method that didn't require lacquer and Ron D. had just posted a few tips which I shamelessly stole. I am using my old Bohning cresting lathe but everything else is wiped on with a cotton rag or from a permanent marker. No tubes, brushes, odors or clean-up.
Some cedar done without the lathe.
Oh, and the Douglas fir with alcohol based Pecan dye is eye-popping grand without messing with it.

Here's my crest I did on Phillips crester. The arrows are Nugent zebra pattern. My crest I tried to use Pacific Northwest colors.
I like white arrows and these fit the bill for minimal effort and they are tough arrows. I plan to be doing my woodies in white crest with my PNW pattern.
