mounting head on Bamboo shafts

For the guys who use bamboo shafts, how do you get the 11/32nd heads to fit?  I just received some 70 to 75LB spined shafts and they are about 5/16th at the large end.

You can mount a foreshaft, or turn the shaft down at the point end to fit. On the other hand, you could use the screw in points by drilling out the center of your shaft to fit. If you do that, you will need to reinforce the point end by wrapping it with thread.

You can put a wooden dowel in the end and then taper the arrow just as you would any other shaft.

Your best bet would be to get heads for 5/16" shafts. You can glue on a 11/32" head on a 5/16" shaft. As long as the arrow is pushing the head there shouldn't be a problem.

Just use a 5/16" tip. If that's not an option for some reason, go ahead and use an 11/32" tip. If you're worried about the lip at the back of the tip catching as you pull the arrow out of the target, then form a little ramp with epoxy or hot melt to ease the transition.

Thanks Grey, I was worried about the lip at the back.  Don't know if they make a 5/16th head in the weight I am shooting for, 190 gr.

I don't think they come that heavy in 5/16", but you could always try putting solder in the center of the shaft.

The shafts are probably tempered Tonkin shafts. They are pretty thin.

Shafts are tempered Tonkin cane.  I will use 11/32nd heads and build up the shaft at the back lip.

Another option is to drill the center of the shaft, where it's pretty much hollow anyway, and put a metal insert in there to raise the point weight.
A lot of us using those shafts drill that center and glue in a bamboo bbq skewer to strengthen the end and to provide a solid end for point tapering. It wouldn't be much of s stretch to use metal instead of bamboo.
