A pretty pair of Holcomb 59ners
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:13:00 AM »

This pair of beauties came to me to outfit with leather grips and new 5-line strike plates.  The lefty is new and has gorgeous zebrawood veneers.  The righty is a well-loved workhorse.  They both have some fantastic bird's eye maple in the sight window.  Ed does a fantastic job!

As a bonus for all of this, I talked to Ed on the phone for a half hour or so and he should be coming down later this Spring with a bunch of bows!  :D

I bought a Holcomb from the Classifieds on this site recently and I simply love that bow.   It is identical to the right handed bow you show above and it is one fine bow.

I also bought a McDonald '59 reproduction and sent it to John for a bit of refinishing.   It's on its way home and I should have it shortly.

I know of the love/lust relationship that some of the members of this blog have with 1959 Bear Kodiaks but I'd rather have one of these reproductions any day of the week.

Yeah, Ed does a great job. I picked up a drake reproduction from him years ago.

thanks Ming...beat me to the punch! If any of you out there are contemplating a 59' Kodiak...get one of these, with either the purpleheat or birdseye sight window..they are STELLAR performers, for about $625.00. (MORE FOR THE 59' KODIAK "CHRYSTALITE" version with the zebrawood limbs!). HIS KODIAK SPECIALS ARE TRULLY STUNNING BOWS TO LOOK AT AS WELL...SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! Thanks jeremy for posting these...you did a great job for Brian and I on these two bows. BTW....ED IS 70 NOW, WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH LONGER HE'LL MAKE BOWS!!! He told me he is working on a few extra's for this years shows, plus, his wait times are usually short...!  1 month(ish).....love my 2....thanks...john
