Personal range & pint sized arrow puller
« on: March 22, 2011, 09:18:00 PM »
I recently purchased nine large bag targets that came with modified "T"-posts to hang the bags (see pic below). The bags are stuffed very tight, and triple bagged for durability. They have been outdoors continuously for 10 years but as you can see are still in great shape.

Last weekend my buddy, Chris, and I retrieved them from the previous owner, and with the help of another buddy, Ronnie, spent last Saturday setting up a course in a wooded draw near my house.

On sunday, Walker and I shot the course for the first time. We set the course up well, being able to shoot coming and going. Shots range from 12 to 25 yards.

Bag and T-post set-ups

By climbing into the crotch of the dead tree you can shoot 3 bags. Due to topography, all shots from the tree are from an elevated position; it is very similar to shooting from a treestand.

These bags weigh just a tad more than a metric ton! Seriously, they weigh-in at about 40lbs. apiece.

The bags are polypropelene and UV coated/treated, and they are stuffed with a copious amount of cloth-like window screen. Between the bags and screen are dense closed cell foam sheets front and back. The closure at the top is cinched with metal fasteners around a length of double nylon rope, which are used as the hangers.

It is a labor of love for Walker. If he has a bow or BB gun in his hands he is happy.

MY little arrow puller is coming the first week of April to pull arrows for pawpaw. Nothing better than spending time with the little ones and some stick bows and arrows. I used to do the same for my Dad 50 years ago!

The range looks cool. The arrow puller looks tuckered out. My two arrow pullers love going stump shooting with grand pa.

Excellent!
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Thank you, guys. Sure don't realize how fast kids grow up until you start raising your own.

He was a few months shy of three years old in the picture below. Hard to believe he'll be five tomorrow.

Walker is not only a fine arrow puller, he doesn't do too bad posing for a hero shot.
