A couple pics from today.
« on: March 30, 2011, 01:28:00 AM »
After a couple year hiatus from the recurve, I've come back to it.  I'm really looking forward to deer hunting this fall.

I went on a little stump shooting/shed hunting walk around my dad's property today up here in northern MN.

As you'll see from the pics, still about 15-20" of snow in the woods, which put a damper on the shed hunting.  A few stumps met their maker today though.  I also shot a few arial disks thanks to my brother, who was the thrower.

Thanks guys.

It was a beautiful day out there.  I could even walk on top of the snow for the most part, although the open areas got soft in the early afternoon.

Pete, I'm in Deer River, about 15 miles west of Grand Rapids.

Going out stumpin after work today. The ground is mostly bare and it's suppose to get up to 50 degrees. Gotta get it in cause thursday night into friday we are getting a Noreaster which is suppose to dump up to a foot of snow. This winter just won't let go!

Thanks for the pictures!

Great job by the photographer!!

Question?

You stated you were coming back to the recurve.

What were you shooting prior to the curve?

The 1st and 3rd pics were taken via my camera attached to a small tripod and it sitting on a stump or fence post.

My dad has run his own archery shop for the last 33 years.  He is a Hoyt dealer and has seen a HUGE resurgence in traditional gear w/in the last year or two.  We are even going to have a traditional only 3d league this summer.

I've been shooting/hunting w/ a compound the last 24 years, although I did hunt w/ a recurve (Martin X-200) one year.  I missed a 6ptr 3x in about 5 minutes. LOL

I'm still going to use my compoud for MN turkey this spring as I am 0 for 4 on those dirty buggers and not quite confident enough w/ my recurve yet.  Lots of feathers and tag soup, that I'm getting sick of!  LOL
