I recently took an inventory of the bows I've owned. I came up with 58, most from the workshops of very well known bowyers.
I have known of Chad's bows for several years as I see him displayed at our local shoots. For reasons I really don't understand, I never gave them much thought. Anyway, a few weeks ago on a whim I bought a used Osprey longbow from a local fellow. Immediately upon shooting it I recognized it was not just another "good" bow.
I recently sent Chad this e-mail and it pretty well sums up my thoughts:
Chad:
Good seeing you at the NASP shoot.
I want to tell you again, this Osprey I have is about as nice and overall bow in terms of looks, build, quality and most important shooting as any I've had and that is saying something!
The only thing I'll say is that when I swapped out the original string with an 8-strand D-10 "skinny string" from Silent But Deadly bowstrings (or a 8 strand 450+ from Oliverstacy strings) it even got better. That, and finding the sweet spot for brace height (7-1/2") and nock point 5/8" made this bow nearly as quiet as a good Hill style. Pretty incredible shooting bow fast, stable, and quiet!
Take care,
Jay
