I went to a 3D shoot today at my home club. I've been kicking around the idea of shooting flying discs and also a way to help the club generate funds for new targets to keep the archery tradition going all while making it fun. Getting a few more trad folks in the mix is a goal also.
I bought two "boogie boards" from a thrift store. I got five nine-inch discs cut out of each.
Yesterday I got a few compounders to shooting the discs with a #30 recurve I brought along. And today I took that same little recurve over and let it sit with the pink discs (pink boogie boards) while folks looked.
At the end of the today's shooting with the last groups still out and the practice range stagnant I enticed a few more folks to pick it up and fling a few. In all, 9 compound shooters got a taste of trad bait.
Now I got to keep on reeling to bring'em into the boat.
I did hear one young fellow, about 7, ask for one for Chirstmas. I heard two guys wearing the matching team shirts, who run an archery shop (compound), mention having to "get one of these" with the other in agreement.
Yep, the fishin' was good today guys and gals. All were keepers.
