Hello all! question for ya
« on: April 04, 2011, 11:54:00 PM »
Hello,
New member here, and my first post. So hello from Montana! I've been lookin around the site and im already amazed by the true craftsmen and artists here and the overwhelming knowledge.

So to my question......... I was hoping for a recommendation on a nice recurve. I am reacquianting myself with trad shooting after a long hiatus from when I was a kid. I am wanting a really nice TD Recurve. I was looking at Bears Paw bows, since he is just north a ways from me and I like to support the MT boys. Any feedback on these bows and if not what else should I look at? Pics would be awesome!

Thanks all!
Fin

I'd check out recurves by Dan Toelke at Montanabows.com  his lead time is not nearly as long as some others and his bows are works of art. He is also a sponser here.

Welcome to the guys and gals at Trad Gang. I second Montana Bows. Dan Toelke builds an awesome shooting bow. I own 3 of his bows and you can not go wrong with them. He builds a beautiful recurve the Chinook as well as his new Lynx TD. Dan is also great to work with and a sponsor here at Trad Gang. Good Luck

Welcome!  Theres ALOT of nice bows out there.  My suggestion is try to get to an event or shoot where there are a lot of trad equipment, and see whats out there. I don't think that you can go wrong with a bow from Dan Toelke.  good luck

I'd look at Dan Toelke's line of bows at Montanabows.com.  Give him a call...he's a wealth of knowledge.  He can also build you a bow in a month usually.  Beautiful woods too. He's in Ronan.

Dick Robertson is also a good bet any day.

Both Montana bowyers.
Where you at?
I'm in Belgrade.

Welcome to the family.

Don't get in a hurry unless it's the perfect bow at the perfect price.

If you can shoot it before you buy it,that would be best, bearspaw makes a nice recurve, but there are alot of boyers willing to let you try their products first.

Welcome and with the choises out there today you are about to jump into somthing that will make you pull your hare out, i mean that in a gooed way, Find your self a trad club or go to a big trad shoot with a lot of vinders and shoot as many bows as you can to see what feels right.

I have never heard a bad thing about bear paw bows.

Welcome from a fellow Montanan! I would also recommend checking out Dan Toelke's bows. If you are close to his locale I would say to go meet him in person. I would almost guarantee he has a few bows on hand which he will let you shoot.

Last I knew Schafer Silvertip's were made in Montana still. I love mine and haven't heard anything bad about them. Good luck and WELCOME!
