Bear Takedown Risers I Just Don't Get It?

Someone please explain to me how used Gainesville risers will go for as much or more than new Gainesville risers on th auction site. I can remember when it was said those Gainesville risers look like plywood,don't feel like the originals ect. Now if you look at some of the threads you find people ranking them green.green strip,brown and grau,brown and light gray ect.Can there be that much difference? that people will pay as much as new? I understand the originals going for a good price,but do not get it for the Gainesville. You know I never had the money to buy the wood rise back in 74 when I got my Mag-riser but I could afford one now. I would like to finish my time afield with the same type of bow Fred used,but getting one from Bear is like trying to find hens teeth and paying as much as new for usd is ridiculous.I need someone wiser than I to explain this logic to me. Have togo back to work now,please feel free to give me your thoughts.

It's all the Bear mystic if you ask me.  To some people, there is just something about carrying the "bow that Fred carried".

In terms of the NEW Bear, I would contact Big Jim Bow Company.  I know he has a few coming in the next few weeks including one that I ordered.  My understanding is that he went ahead and ordered several in anticipation of the demand.  3 Rivers also shows they carry them, but I don't think they actually have any in stock right now.

In terms of the new bear, I have seen and shot one and they are every bit, probably better than the old ones ever were.  I can't wait for mine!

but the question remains why would you pay new prices for used ,how can the older Gainesville bows be that better than the new ?

#1 the old risers were made when Fred owned the company. They have collector value, hence the premium prices for them. The originals were made in 70/72 time frame and the green stripes were made in 80/82 time frame.

Well Danny not all of the gainesville risers yhat are sell for high prices were made when Fred was alive. and I do understand how the 70s risers could go for a good price. but it still dose't wash how new can cost as much as used as far as the Gainesville risers go.

I saw the new T/D's Risers at Kalamazoo and they still aren't any where near the feel of both the Garyling and the Gainesville models. You have to have one of each in hand and you'll feel the difference. Escalade has a way to go to catch up with the other 2 models. The one called the supreme which I'Mnot sure they still offer it was priced at $1300.00 and still didn't have the right feel.      moose

It is because there are a ton of guys who collect Bears. Some of the takedowns are very rare, thus making them more valuable to a collector. I like the takedowns because I can buy old limbs at a reasonable price. I am not a collector, I just like to shoot them.

There is a definite difference in the feel, grip, and mass of many of the Woodie Bear TDs. I've owned all of them except for the one between the Greenstripe and the Supreme. I've been waiting since January 7th for the 2011 TD in A riser. It will probably come as soon as I leave home in the morning for 4 days!

I like the feel of the 2011 riser better than the Green Stripe and the Supreme. I don't think just because a riser is an older model it is worth less if it is great condition. For example, if when my 2011 Bear comes in and I don't like it. As long as it is in pristine condition I would expect someone would be willing to pay a new price to save the 10-12 week+ wait. I would.

So Bowwild each year Gainesville riser has a different fell of the handle or do they shoot different?

Why ask why. It is just the way it is. they don't have to be better to cost more. Trust me, if someone were to offer me more for my truck than what it's worth (about $10 per hundred weight) I would jump on it too. As long as people feel the spirit, they will sell for what people will ask for them.
Buy a new one and make it your collector.
