Zwickey Eskimo opinions

My woodies love to shoot Stos 145, but my carbons like either tusker concords or Zwickey Eskimo screw-in 160 grain.  So, if pig hunting with carbons, assuming good flight and sharp head etc, any opinions on an Eskimo vs hog hunt.  Arrow is like 525 grains and moving 3 feet in front of bow at like 180-plus, total head weight with brass insert is 210 grains.

I figure should be fine but never hog hunted trad before.

Put it this way, Zwickey Eskimo broadheads have been around for "decades". If the Eskimos wouldn't have been a good broadhead, they would no longer be for sale.....and they've taken lots of different game animals over the decades bowhunters have tipped their arrows with them including hogs.

Bob your set-up with the Eskimo will work just fine.I harvested a hog with an Eskimo head,got a pass thru with a 45# bow.My arrow set-up was just about the same as yours.

Thanks guys, jsut wasn't sure - the Eskimo is a bit wide and hogs are dense.  I appreciate your comments.  Randy, I reckon if I manage to stick one I will post a pic or two.  Leland, where are you from in Wisconsin?

I had a hald dozen of the blue Zwickey Eskimo 4 broadheads from about 1992 or 93.  Two of these failed at the ferrule.  They split along the spot welds.  They did this when I was shooting at rabbits along creek banks and the heads buried in the gravel and cobblestones.  I melted away the Ferr-L-Tite, silver-soldered the seams, and put them on shafts again.  Still shooting them.  Never had one fail on deer, though I switched to single blades since then.

Zwickey has been making roughly that same design since 1939.  You make something for that long there's a good chance all the bugs are worked out.

Good tough head. They will work great for whatever game you are after.

Zwickeys have been around a long time. ...and they have been improved along the way.  They are brazened now an much stronger than the 'old blues' that were actually made in the 80s.

If you are worried at all about the width.......take a look at the no mercys.....same width but steeper angle of attack due  to a longer length......hence better penetration for said width.

The pig I killed this spring I shot with a 2-blade eskimo.  It went thru both shoulder blades.  Parts of the edge would still shave hair. Good,tough, head.  I use full length steel inserts.

Can you tell much differance in penetration with Eskimos with bleeder blades versus those without, everything else being equal? I have tryed the two blade version and was thinking about trying some with bleeder blades this year.

Shot my first deer with a zwickey eskimo 4 blade, no problems, still have a bunch.
