Just wondered if there are other Trad Folks who prefer to hang inside of sleep on the ground.

When I was in the Philippines we had to sleep in hammocks when in the jungle(odd little critters on the ground at night)had some of the best sleep ever!I still have it and now I want to break it out and take a nap.

I have an ENO Doublenest that I use camping all the time. In my opinion, it's alot better sleep than the ground.

I have used one of my own making and a modified hennessey on the last few elk trips to colorado. It is the only way for me when in rough country. It just takes some tinkering when it gets cold. The high elevations storms can also test your conviction.

All the time! Mostly canoe camping trips but even in established campgrounds I'll set up my hennessey to sleep in and set up a regular tent to change clothes and store stuff in.

Ben,
About the size of a football. Maybe a little larger. You can buy what they call snake skins for the hammock that fit on the tie up ropes. When you want to pack it up you just roll the hammock up around the main line and slide the snake skins down over the hammock then untie from the trees and coil up the whole thing. Its a pretty slick set up

I've been looking at Clarks NX250 and finally Ordered it for a Hunt this year on Kauai. I figured it would be better than the ground with all the rain that can happen there. I have not had a chance to set it up yet but I think it will be just the ticket...

Hammocks are great but there is a learning curve to be had with them.
Clue #1: insulation *under* you (and likely under your hammock) is more important than insulation *over* you.
Clue #2: lay diagonally *not* straight up and down the center line. A diagonal lay (aka Brazilian lay) gets you a nice flat sleep whereas an up-the-middle-lay will curve you like a banana.

I even string mine up on the porch. Great place to relax after a long work day.

Just got my Hennessy and set it up in the woods behind the house. Man that thing is soooo simple and easy, even the first time after you watch the video on their web site. I'll try it out soon. I have a hammock I keep up on the porch all summer--got it in Brazil a couple of years ago. Brazilians love hammock sleeping. One reason is their homes are generally much smaller than ours and they save space. But the doggone things are so comfortable--the hotels we have stayed in in Brazil often have hammock hooks in the walls for people who prefer to bring their hammock with them. That way they always have their own bed...just like at home.

I've got a Black Bird that's great. It has a foot box for asymmetrical lay & a structural ridge line to control sag. COMFY!
I want to go to Brazil!
