You could just shoot all your arrows through some critters...that oughta put a nice red stain on them...      :D

The rit dye will work great. But just so you know too a red paint will work like a stain if you wipe it on and off and will seal the arrow at the same time.

It all depends on the look you want for your arrows.

If you get a red oil base paint and thin it down with a thinner of some sort it should work too, but the rit dye and alcohol is the cheaper way to go. Then just seal with a poly.

I don't recomend soaking your shafts but rather wipe on the dye. Moisture can worp the shaft and then you will have to straighten. Just use one shaft to try it on first, then when you get what your looking for do the same process to all the other shafts.

I used Rit dye on these arrows. Royal blue for bottom and scarlet red for cap. That's my David Knight bow, Osage w/boo back.

Wonder how that transfast would work on feathers.  Ever tried it rraming?

This is just a thought as I do not know if it will work.

Take some white water base paint and mix it half water and half paint. Just rub some on and let dry. Sand lightly until the desired look you want, with the grain showing.

Then take some bright red (like you want) water base paint and mix it half water and half paint. Rub some on and let dry. The white base will make the red brighter. Lightly sand until the desired look you want, with the grain showing. It seems like a lot of work but great looking arrows should not be rushed.

Mike,

Give Larry at Lost Nation a call or check out him out on the web.  I was there this morning and pick up some of his stains.  They are great and I pretty sure I saw what you are looking for. Todd

I have used used Lockwood stains in bow making. They have a great selection of colors and types of stain. They can send "sample Packs" of stain for 10$ each, it will make up about a quart of stain. They are out in New York, only takes a few days to mail it to your door.
