Turkey hunt with my girls--pics
« on: April 10, 2011, 10:32:00 PM »
This is the first time I've had both Molly 5 y/o and Macy 3 y/o in the turkey blind with me.

I recently got permission to hunt a small horse ranch 1/2 mile from my housing addition.  The problem today:  We were too late, the birds had already moved into the area.

We snuck around the barns and set up as close to the field edge as I thought we could get without spooking birds.

I yelped a little and 15 min later, two longbeards came by at 30 yds.  They wouldn't come under the fence to my decoys though.  They hung up at 60 yds and gobbled at us for a while before heading to roost.

My girls really enjoyed themselves.  We saw deer, turkey, geese, blue heron... and ate animal crackers.  What an evening!

That is so awesome.  I have a 15 month old and she is already saying turkey.  I can't wait to get her out.  Something special about those little girls.  You have to beautiful ones at that.

Nice!  One question though... I have a 7yr old daughter who'll sit all day in the blind, but my five year old daughter last all of 3 minutes before she "has to pee, Dad I'm hungry, this is taking FOREVER! Dad I have to pee again...)  So what magic did you use to get that 3yo to sit?!  Congrats on a hunt you'll never regret.   :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures of what looked to be a very memorable day. Legends1 is right, cherish days like that and enjoy every opportunity for them, they disappear quick, and then you'll miss them.

oh, and on a side note, you're like a half hour away from me.
