Turkey Decoys?
« on: April 13, 2011, 06:39:00 PM »
Been looking at hen decoys and there seems to be three basic poses, the feeding hen, the crouched/ready to bread hen, and the upright hen who looks as if she is searching for something.  Which pose have you had most sucess with? And why do you think so?

I use the Dave Smith decoy that looks like she's half alert ! The reason being if I lay her on the ground she sorda looks like she's in the breeding pose when in front of a strutting gobbler decoy !

Another nice decoy is the new zink LCD decoys.  Very nice and very mobile.

I use a strutting Jake with a feeding & an alert hen. In the wild they always have one that is watching for danger while the others feed. I think it helps the set up look a little more natural. Turkeys are funny though, you never know what will bring them in. Good luck.

Sentry poses may reflect alarm. I will only use one if utilizing a 3 - 5 deke set-up or one in difficult to see areas such as high grass.
